IAS Prelims 2014 Results Out – 16900 Cleared

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

UPSC in the dead of night on 14/10/2014 announced Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2014 results. To be precise, the result was announced on its site at 02.30 A.M! Find out all the details below.

16900 Qualified for Mains

16900 aspirants managed to clear the Prelims, i.e, they are eligible to write the Mains exam in December. As mentioned in IAS 2014 notification, there are 1291 vacancies for 2014 civil services exam. Going by this about 13 times (16900) have qualified the Prelims. This is in line with previous Mains candidates/Vacancies ratio. Congratulations to all the Prelims qualified candidates and all the very best for your Mains 2014 preparation. I suggest you go through the Mains answer writing tips to prepare for IAS Mains in the right way.

Cut Off Marks for Prelims 2014

Although the UPSC has made it very clear in its notification that cut-off marks for Prelims 2014 will be announced after final result of civil services exam 2014 is declared in 2015, going by the various feedback received from candidates, it is apparent that cut-off for General category was around 207-215 marks in 2014 Prelims. This is quite close to the cut-off I predicted (210-220) in a response to a comment on Prelims 2014 analysis.

UPSC has also clarified that Prelims marks, cut-off marks and answer keys will only be posted after declaration of the final result and no RTI application in this regard will be entertained by the commission. So those of you looking to get some clue about your marks and the answer keys will have to wait for 6-7 months for the final results to be declared.

    Hello Nagendra,

Since I have no knowledge about Mechanical Engg, it is suggested you approach some past or current candidates with Mech Engg optional.

You will need to provide your graduation certificate/final year marksheet at the time of filling Mains form, so its No.
