The Union Public Service Commission on 20th December declared the results of the 2018 Civil Services (Mains) Examination held from 28th September to 7th October 2018 on its website.
In all, 1994 candidates cleared the CSM written exam and qualified for the Personality Test (Interview) which will be held from 4th February 2019 onward.
You can download the result here.
How Does This Compare With the Vacancy Position
As you are aware, UPSC had declared that there are 782 vacancies in Civil Services Exam 2018.
And going by the logic of UPSC’s recruitment 2.5 to 3 times the total number of vacancies should qualify for Interview upon clearing the written exam. Let us test this hypothesis here.
1994÷782 = 2.54
So our hypothesis is correct once again and 2.5 times the total number of vacancies have been shortlisted for the Interview based on their written exam marks.
